Kanda (Pointe-Claire)

Kanda (Pointe-Claire)

I was craving for shrimp tempura and so, I decided to go to Kanda (Pointe-Claire) with my friend. I've been to Kanda many times before (Pointe-Claire location as well as Brossard and Decarie) and I've always enjoyed the food.

What we got (click here to see their online menu.. you might not get the items we got at all times):
  • Seaweed Salad
  • Jumbo Garlic Shrimp (kitchen "A")
  • Shrimp Tempura (kitchen "A")
  • Vegetable Tempura (kitchen "A")
  • Salmon Teriyaki (kitchen "B")
  • Salt & Pepper Shrimps (kitchen "C")
  • Salmon Sashimi
  • Caviar/Flying Fish Caviar (maki)
  • Avocado (maki)
  • Spicy (maki)
To start off, we had seaweed salad, which is a little sweet but tastes so good.

Then, we got salmon sashimi, spicy maki, avocado maki and flying fish maki. There were 2 soy sauce bottles (the one with green lid had less sodium but alcohol as one of the ingredients while red one didn't have alcohol.

Then, they brought the tempura, salmon teriyaki and jumbo garlic shrimps.

Shrimp tempura tasted great as always. So crispy and delicious! The vegetable tempura were okay. I was hoping that the salmon teriyaki would be a little sweet but it wasn't (we ordered another one without the sauce). The shrimps were good.

But then I tried salt & pepper shrimps.. so delicious! It was flavorful! I really liked it! I will definitely get it next time I go there.

Finally, I ordered Mango ice-cream. They had other choices too (Red bean, vanilla). It was okay, nothing special.

Overall, the food and service were good. Our waitress was nice and we didn't wait too long to get the food. They have a fast service. It's definitely worth the price especially since you got a variety of things you can choose from. We didn't eat much even though we went on empty stomach. That's mainly because we stuffed ourselves with the filling stuff like shrimp tempura or salt and pepper shrimps. We avoided ordering a lot of sushi because they charge $1 per uneaten sushi.
I paid about $31 for buffet, sprite, tips and taxes.

This is the menu we got (we went on a tuesday evening):

Juliette et Chocolat (St Catherine)

Juliette et Chocolat (St Catherine)

Since my friends and I didn't enjoy our dinner at restaurant Rasoï, we decided to to Juliette et Chocolat (corner St-Catherine & Guy) for some desserts. I'm glad we did because we had a great time there.

What we got (click here to see menu):
  • Milk Chocolate fondue (for 2)
  • Hazelnut Praline Petit Pot
  • Banatella brownie
  • Jasmine Tea
  • Chaï Latte
My sister wasn't a huge fan of her Banatella brownie but everything else tasted great. I took the Hazelnut praline petit pot and I instantly fell in love with it! It was creamy but not too sweet. If I didn't have dinner right before, I would have ordered chocolate shooter, which is one of my favorite items to get from Juliette et Chocolat. I also got jasmine tea. I like to drink tea with my dessert. My friend got chaï latte and she liked it.

Two of my friends shared the chocolate fondue. I had some too and it was good as usual. I like to share my chocolate fondue because I can never finish the fruits they give. Although they do provide a variety of fruits (apple, pear, kiwi, oranges, grapes, banana etc.), I still prefer the chocolate fondue at Cacao 70 because they bring some brownies and these small pieces of waffles along with strawberries and bananas. There aren't many fruits but I always find it more filling.

I've been to Juliette et Chocolat (St-Denis & Dix 30) many times before and enjoyed their desserts but found the service slow (sometimes a little too slow.. I once waited almost 40 minutes to get my food even when there weren't a lot of people) but this was my first time going to their new location on corner St-catherine & Guy. I was very satisfied with the service we got. Our waiter was very nice and the service was much faster than I expected. He also kept on checking up on us.

I personally didn't enjoy going to their other locations, but this one is certainly my favorite for now. I haven't tried the Laurier and St-Laurent ones though but I'm planning to check those out. As for this one, I will definitely go back. Everyone seemed to be having a good time there too. We certainly did.

The Keg Steakhouse & Bar (Place Ville Marie)

The Keg Steakhouse & Bar (Place Ville Marie)

The Keg Steakhouse & Bar (Place Ville Marie) is my favorite restaurant.
I went there today for dinner with a friend.

Click here to view their menu. This is what I ordered:
  • Zesty Salmon (well done) served with mashed potatoes
  • Shirley Temple
They always bring bread with whipped butter (no charge). I love it! It's so soft.
I like the salmon too, it was flavorful. Also, their mashed potatoes taste great! I always get this! I tried the mustard salmon too but I didn't really like it. I found that the mustard was a little overwhelming. As for the drinks, I love their virgin Pina Coladas but it always makes me full, so I get shirley temple instead.

We actually had 2 waiters today, which I've never seen here before.. Regardless, the service was good. My friend's soft drink was flat, so they exchanged it right away. I like how they serve the food and drinks fast. Also, they kept checking on us every now and then.

Overall, the food and service were good. We left satisfied once again! It was about $40 (salmon, shirley temple, taxes and tips).
